When the access decides the method
Parkeray have brought us onto several London fit-outs, including 20 Churchill Place at Canary Wharf, the Blue Fin Building in Southwark, 19 Wells Street and 33–39 Bowling Green Lane. At 20 Churchill Place in 2022 the building couldn't take an articulated lorry and had no forklift or pallet truck, and the floor was 850m² at 80mm over 120mm PIR, so instead of bagged material the screed was batched on site with Retanol Xtreme rapid-drying additive and pumped into place. At the Blue Fin Building in 2025 the job was a level 10 terrace: everything came off on the street and went one pallet at a time through two lifts and a basement corridor, and we mixed indoors and barrowed up a ramp we brought ourselves. The old 240mm pedestal system was replaced with 125mm Ravatherm XPS300 insulation, a slip membrane and 100mm of Rapido Witt screed laid to falls, ready for a resin finish.
Ask the access questions before you price the floor
Can it take an artic? Is there a forklift? Is there a pallet truck? On most jobs the answers are boring. On these, they changed the product, the plant and the programme.
Next projects.
