Matching the system to each room
R W Armstrong build bespoke homes to architects' one-off designs, and they have brought us back for more than 20 jobs. At Byfleet Manor in West Byfleet, built in 1686 and best known as the Dower House in Downton Abbey, we screeded around 700m² across a refurbishment and extension, with Isocrete K-Screed in the basement and Instarmac UltraCem rapid-drying screed over Kingspan K103 insulation in the ballroom and living spaces. Near Marlow we're working across a main house, barn and lodge, with PIR insulation and underfloor heating under a sand and cement screed, an acoustic underlay on the lodge first floor and a wearing topping in the lodge garage. In Cookham, the work includes castellated underfloor heating boards in a music room.
Different rooms, different systems
On a bespoke house, the floor build-up changes from room to room. We match the system to each one rather than forcing one screed through the whole house.
Next projects.
