Working in buildings that can't stop
Schools and hospitals don't close for the screeder. We've worked at Leatherhead Hospital, Wellington College, St Crispin's School in Wokingham, and schools in St Albans, Bartley and Liphook, mostly for main contractors such as DM Habens. At Leatherhead Hospital in 2025 the old floor may have had bitumen adhesive under the parquet, so we left it in place rather than disturb it, primed with Weberfloor 4716 and laid a 23mm bonded Weberfloor 4310, with deliveries from 7.30am to get in ahead of the hospital car park. At St Crispin's School in 2024, a new Junckers sports floor needed a very flat base over bitumen residue, with only a few millimetres to spare and one damp area. Over five days in summer heat we laid around 127m² of Arditex NA latex levelling compound, tanked the damp area with Ardex WPM-200, capped it with a second NA layer within a 2mm tolerance across the whole room.
The floor you inherit is part of the job
Most refurbishment floors come with something underneath — bitumen, damp, old adhesive. Working out what to leave, what to treat and what to build over is where the real skill is.
Next projects.
